Low-carbon Life Starts with Me
Introduction
The climate change is currently one of the most severe challenges for the
international society, which has evoked serious concern in all countries for its impact
on human society. In recent years, various extreme climate phenomena led by the
global climate change have frequently occurred all around the world. Before the
irreversible disaster of global warming arrives, we can do nothing but to develop the
low-carbon economy and advocate the low-carbon life to effectively respond to the
climate change; and we can only realize the economic and social sustainable
development by low-carbon development, reduction of carbon use and adaptation to
the climate change
Tiens Group hopes to improve the awareness and competence on energy
conservation and emission reduction of stable consumer groups of TIENS including
more than 20 million households based on the publicity and propaganda of the
scientific knowledge on the low-carbon life, in order to save resources, reduce
pollution, protect the favorable living environment of the earth and initiate the highquality, green and happy life.

Low Carbon and
Climate Change
According to the research report by International
Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change, the average
surface temperature has increased by 0.3-0.6 ℃ in the past
130 years, bringing about snowstorm, flood, lightning strike,
drought and hurricane. The global warming also results in the
glacial collapse and ablation, sea-level rise, lower crop yield
and species extinction etc.
Why does the earth, the pet of the universe, catch a fever?
The atmospheric layer protects the surface of the earth we are
living in. The average surface temperature might be about –
18℃ without the layer, where we should always live in the cold
winter. As a result of the atmospheric layer, the short-wave
radiation from the sun can directly reach the surface from the
layer so that all creatures on the earth can enjoy the warm
sunshine. Meanwhile, the long-wave radiation of the surface
scattering can warm the atmosphere and avoid the
temperature loss. Its insulating effect is similar to the
greenhouse planting flowers, while the atmosphere of the
earth can be compared to the glass of the greenhouse,
realizing the warming effect by permeation of short-wave
radiation and absorption of long-wave radiation. This is the
principle for the greenhouse effect of the atmosphere.
However, not all gases that constitute the atmosphere are
equipped with this function but only six among them,
including the carbon dioxide, methane, ozone, nitrogen
monoxide, freon and water vapor, which are collectively
called “Greenhouse Gases”. Since the start of industrial
civilization, large amount of chemical fuels such as coal,
petroleum and natural gas have been utilized in the
production and living of people, thus a large number of
greenhouse gases including the carbon dioxide have been
exhausted. The increasing proportion of greenhouse gases
lead to the continuous global warming.
The background of the “low-carbon” concept is the
global warming severely challenging the survival and
development of human beings. “Low-carbon” refers to
lower emission of greenhouse gases (mainly the carbon
dioxide). The low-carbon economy indicates the economy
based on low energy consumption, low pollution and low
emission, which is a major progress after the agricultural
economy and industrial economy. It covers nearly all fields,
including the low-carbon life, low-carbon society, lowcarbon city, low-carbon consumption, low-carbon travel,
low-carbon culture and low-carbon household.

Healthy Life
Low-carbon cooking
Edible oil generates carcinogens when heated, while its oil smoke will pollute the
living environment.
Reduce fried and roasted dishes and boil vegetables more.
Do not over fill the rice cooker and water kettle, or the soup and water will run
over when boiled up, which wastes energy and may lead to gas leak when the fire
is out.
Adjust the scope of the flame to limit it within the outer edge of the boiler base
for better heating effect.
Reduce fried and roasted dishes and boil
vegetables more for nutrition and health.

Fewer use of disposable products
Though only 0.04g standard coal can be saved and 0.1g CO2
emission can be reduced from one less plastic bag, 10% reduction
of plastic bags used nationwide can save 12 thousand tons of
standard coals and reduce an emission of 31 thousand tons of
CO2 for each year.
The market is flooded with disposable products, including
disposable tableware, toothbrush, raincoat and sign pen etc.
