Comenius Spain, the Basque visit Sept 2013 – The Kingfisher School England
An ongoing project with Partner schools and Colleges working on a joint
venture “eco project and Sustainability”
A group of 5 pupils and 4 staff went for a week on a visit to the Basque region of
France. This was part of our commitment to the Comenius project. This involves a
group of several schools throughout Europe who came together to look at various
issues which looked at the problems of sustainability and improving the ways in which
our environment can be more eco managed.
The visit involved working in partner schools looking at environmental problems and
how to address these issues. Then visiting projects which were trying to improve
sustainability and reduce pollution effects on the environment.
There was a lot of work to do for the young people from the various schools. Also a lot
of fun was had by all and friendships were forged.
The best aspect of Comenius is that it allows young people from different cultures and
classes of society to come together and share their views and cooperate. This was
probably the best aspect of our visit to the Basque region of Spain this year.
Comenius Eco Project:
RAISING AWARNESS UPON CLIMATE CHANGE
AMONGST PROGRAME COMENIUS SCHOOLS ISSUES AMONG TEACHERS AND THEIR STUDENTS
Some Activites undertaken and some suggestions of what
could be undertaken in the future to address the issues and
concerns:
• students create questionnaires about climate change
• they could interview colleagues throughout the school as
well as teachers
•They could assesse
the answers and came with
conclusions on how interested students in partner school
are in climate change and also on their acknowledge of the
topic.
• students could presented their projects to colleagues and
teachers
OUR EXAMPLE Of A QUESTIONNAIRE WHICH
CAN BE USED IN PARTNER SCHOOLS
OUR FIRST LOCAL ACTION: RAISING AWARNESS
UPON CLIMATE CHANGE ISSUES AMONG TEACHERS
AND STUDENTS
Another Activity could be
that:
• students designed postcards
in which they illustrate the
effects of climate change .
• the postcards could be
exposed so that any visitor to
the school could see
them. These are some
examples from our school
