The Eco Guide to Sussex – One
Persons Journey to Becoming Green
Katie Ramsay
PEGASAURUS PUBLISHING,
MADE IN SUSSEX, FOR SUSSEX.
My aim is to offer local aspiring
writers and illustrators an
opportunity to get involved in
projects and to get their work
published.
THE STORY SO FAR – 6 MONTHS ON...
WHY DID I DECIDE TO PREPARE AND PUBLISH
AN ECO GUIDE TO SUSSEX?
COMMON PERCEPTIONS ABOUT CLIMATE
CHANGE.
Will climate change
even affect us here in
Sussex?
I do my recycling,
therefore I do my
bit. What else can I
do?
Surely climate
change means it is
going to get
warmer – that
sounds good to
me!
If climate change
isn’t going to affect
me then why
should I do
anything about it?
Surely there is
nothing I can do to
stop draught in
Africa or flooding in
Australia anyway?
WHAT IS CLIMATE
CHANGE?
Gradual
warming of our
planet.
It is argued
that climate
change occurs
as a result of
human activity.
This increase
in temperature
will have
negative
effects around
the world.
HOW WILL CLIMATE
CHANGE AFFECT US IN
SUSSEX?
Extreme
weather
patterns could
become the
norm.
Think about the
weather
patterns we
have
experienced
this year.
HOW WILL CLIMATE
CHANGE AFFECT US IN
SUSSEX?
Decline in the
amount of rain
fall during the
summer months.
In the south due to
a high population
density we already
have access to a
lesser amount of
rainfall than the
rest of the country.
HOW WILL CLIMATE
CHANGE AFFECT US IN
SUSSEX?
Rising sea
levels. By 2080
water levels in
the English
channel are
expected to have
risen by 54 cms!
Sea defences
may be breached
and there will be
an increased risk
of flooding.
WILL CLIMATE CHANGE
AFFECT ME?
YES

MY JOURNEY TO
BECOMING GREEN...
I recycle, what else can I do to be
green?
Recycling has become the norm.
But there is more to being ‘green’
than recycling.

If you change your behaviour then

Global
If we all make small changes to our lifestyles
then we can have a global impact. Change has to
start at home and within the local community.
Thanks
Katie!
