Smart Cities are…
• … new urban ecosystems able to maximize social,
environmental and economic wealth in cities:
• Thanks to the intensive use of Information and
Communication Technologies (ICTs) that
facilitate information gathering from different
interoperable systems, in order to make better
decisions for climate change management and for
promoting energy efficiency in cities.

Green applications for citizens
We have defined 5 types of green applications:
1) GREEN INFORMATION & ENVIRONMENTAL EDUCATION: Apps with general environmental information. i.e location of
natural parks or eco-lodges, recycling sites, green or eco-advices. Apps to asess the environmental footprint of my activities: like CO2 I produce daily, eco-calculators.
2) RESPONSIBLE GREEN MANAGEMENT: Apps to manage resources & improve efficiency: like turn off or on home electronics, appliances,
sustainable mobility applications, etc
3) CLIMATE INFORMATION FOR DECISION MAKING: Apps with real-time display of environmental conditions or
disasters for decision-making. Also weather conditions.
4) GREEN PRODUCTS PURCHASE (BUY GREEN): Apps that allow access to stores information on where to buy green products
5) GREEN GAMES: Apps with eco-games allowing interaction with the user.
