Drum Beats and Heart Beats
In this lesson students will research the importance of the cadence /signals used by drummer boys in the Army

5. Now that you have a cadence, discuss with your group members the different reasons as to why or why
not you would allow your 10 year old child to go into battle as a drummer boy. Jot down different reasons
why you would agree and or disagree with the decision.
6. Using your notes that you made from your discussion, create a 5-10 page power point based on this:
7. Today, our society would never allow achild so young to go to war.
8. Would you have allowed your child to go to war at 10 in 1861?
9. Why or why not?
10. Cite reasons using RAPS based on text based evidence from your textbook and the videos provided.
11. Once you have completed both assignments, email the assignment in an attachment to your teacher –
