What are we doing?

year
 Working jointly with Forestry Commission

Provide a summary of existing actions
Focus for co-ordinated approach of biomass
Identify Roles & Responsibilities
Identify future actions (and gaps) – route map
for biomass
Scottish Biomass Support Scheme




A new scheme aimed at promoting the biomass
(primarily wood fuel) sector in Scotland
Supporting local economies by creating sustainable
green jobs
Contributing to renewable energy targets
Maximise carbon savings
Amounts/Timescales
 £7.5 M to be committed and spent by March
2008
 Maximum grant of £400k – (unless exceptional
circumstance)
 Support for both installation and supply chain
infrastructure
Open for Business
 Formal application (from mid/late December)
(applicants can register interest now.)
 All applicants will be assessed competitively
against agreed set of indicators
 Support available at all stages.
Successful applicants will be those which provide
best value in relation to the programme overall.
