Implementation of The White Paper, Planning for a Sustainable
Future - May 2007 to :• Streamline the planning process LDF
• Single consents regime for major infrastructure projects with
decisions being taken by a new Infrastructure Planning
Commission
• The Secretary of State would no longer have the final say on
major infrastructure decisions
• Statutory consultation before submission of the application

Planning Bill
• There would be a new Community Infrastructure Levy
on developments to finance infrastructure.
• Planning appeals for minor developments would be
heard by a Local Member Review Body, a panel of
local councillors rather than by a planning inspector.
• Minor Amendments allowed to be made to planning
permissions
