How has climate
change affected
us?

What about developing countries?
They are the least responsible for climate
change
BUT
They are the most vulnerable to its effects

The Impact of Climate Change
Supporting education in Ethiopia
Maryam is 11. She is from the Dorze tribe in Southern Ethiopia.
How has climate change affected her?
“The well near our house has
dried up. Now I have to walk for
three hours every morning to
fetch water from the river for
my family. I can’t go to school
any more because I can’t get
back in time.”

In Ethiopia, people are trying different solutions to fight climate
change.
These farmers are
planting trees. Trees
absorb greenhouse
gases and stop the
ground from drying
out.

Farmers are switching
to animals which can
live more easily in dry
conditions.
Camels and goats do not need as
much water as sheep and cows.

Getting electricity from solar power is a good solution in sunny
countries like Ethiopia! Solar power is clean and produces no
greenhouse gases.

“The danger posed by war to all of humanity - and
to our planet - is at least matched by the climate
crisis and global warming. I believe that the world
has reached a critical stage in its efforts to exercise
responsible environmental stewardship.”
UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon
