• Under its Climate Change policy, TPDDL is committed to introduce energy
efficient and greener technologies and identification of the mitigation &
offset opportunities in a cost effective manner.

Load Research

Load research carried out for residential consumers
(10,000) in 2010
•
Objective: To understand the end energy use &
penetration of various brands, appliances among
consumers
•
Based on the findings, identified following DSM program
: Policy advocacy of Gas water Heaters
Appliance Replacement Program for Refrigerators &
Air Conditioners
Awareness on star rated appliances

DJB Peak Shifting
•
First of its kind peak shifting project in consortium with
water utility of Delhi, Delhi Jal Board (DJB).
•
After load profiling of TPDDL & DJB, suggested DJB to
shift its morning operating hours (water pumping
stations) by 1.5 hours, to minimize coincidence with
TPDDL peak
•
Shift in the operation time was initiated from Aug ’09.
•
Continuous monitoring & verification in progress.
•
Key Benefits:
Shift of 2 MW load from TPDDL peak

LED for Advertising Hoardings
•
Metal halide Lamps (150 W) replaced with LED fixtures
(40 W) at 10 TPDDL locations

Policy Advocacy Bank ATMs
•
Energy saving potential identified at Banks ATMs -ACs
running 24 hours at 16-17°C throughout summer
•
Dialogues held with Ministry of Environment & Forest
(MoEF) ;resulted in MOEF issuing guidelines to all the major
banks in Delhi to ensure the optimal temperature setting of
the ACs of their ATMs
•
Observed savings of 0.16 MUs during summer
•
Regular Monitoring &Verification in progress

Offered Exchange Scheme, under which existing old
Refrigerators and Air Conditioners can be replaced with
new Energy Efficient BEE Star Rated Refrigerators &
ACs
Consumers benefit-Reduction in energy bills, special
discounts on market prices, good salvage value for old
appliance
Scheme was available from 1st Aug, 2011 to 31st Oct,
2011
Over 4000 star rated Appliances sold under the scheme

Bachat Lamp Yojana
•

Bachat Lamp Yojana (BLY) : CDM based scheme developed
by BEE
Aims at large scale replacement of incandescent bulbs in
households by CFLs
Under BLY, CFLs offered at Rs. 15 in exchange of working
ICL bulbs (for residential consumers)
Tripartite agreement signed with BEE & C-Quest Capital to
implement scheme in TPDDL area
Scheme launched in October,2011. Distribution completed
at Motinagar & Mongolpuri Districts and commenced at
Shalimar Bagh & Model Town on 16-01-2012.
CFL distribution under progress (over 4.5 lakh CFLs
distributed so far)

DFID supported Appliance Replacement
Program

TPDDL in association with BEE and ICF (consultant)
developed
an Appliance Replacement program for
Refrigerators and Air conditioners
DFID (A UK grant agency) agreed to fund the expenses for
Market Research, Stakeholder Workshops and Final report,
for replication across India.
Expected to be launched in March ‘12.
Under the scheme, star rated refrigerators and ACs would be
offered at the discounted rates (against the prevailing Market
Operating Prices) & existing appliances would be bought back
for the safe disposal
Target: 10,000 Refrigerators and 5,000 ACs
