6 Golden Rules
of Revision
#1: Organise SPACE
On the pictures in front of you, think about all
the potential barriers to revision;
Does your room look something like this...
#1: Organise SPACE
Wouldn’t it be better looking something like...
#2: Organise TIME
On your sheet, put your subjects in to the
different categories:
High
Subjects you want to take further, you
think are important, or maybe find
difficult;
Medium
Subjects you are confident with, are
doing well in, or maybe don’t your
100% attention right now;
Low
Subjects you have completed good
coursework for, have no exams in, or
just don’t need much time;
#2: Organise TIME
Plan your time effectively by:
► Making a plan and make it public;
► Thinking about YOUR priorities;
► Factoring in FUN;
► Meeting deadlines;
► Considering your other commitments;
Look at the example weekly planner to help
you get organised

#3: Be HEALTHY
You should be thinking like a highly trained athlete
and be concerned about what goes in to your body
(and mind).
#3: Be HEALTHY
► Fruit
► Vegetables
► Cereal
► Bread
► Pasta,
carbohydrates
► Water
Slow release energy
and hydration
► Energy
drinks
► Fizzy drinks
► Sweets
► Crisps
► Chocolate
Sugar highs and then a
crash
#4 Avoid DISTRACTIONS
In pairs, sort the cards in to a list of things
that distract you the most from revision.

#5: Use DEAD TIME
►

►
►
►
Make the most of dead time by having notes and poster/post-its to read
and remind you of key facts:
Travel
Up and down the stairs
Toilet-time!
Brushing your teeth
Make use of your phone and it’s dictaphone!
#6: Do ACTIVE revision
►66%
material is forgotten after 7 days
►88% material is forgotten after 6 weeks
►Reading
notes and text books leads to a mere
10% retention 
►Just reading through your notes doesn’t mean
you’re revising
►Make
mind maps, or write down key points and
then try to recall them on another sheet of paper.
