Skeletal- attached to bones and moves skeleton.
It is a striated muscle
(banded). Voluntary muscle.
Smooth- muscle tissue is located in the walls of the hollow internal structures
such as blood vessels, the stomach, intestines and urinary bladder.
Not striated. Involuntary muscle.
Cardiac- muscle of the heart.
Involuntary muscle.
Contractility- the ability to contract or make shorter.
Excitability- responsiveness to stimulation and regulation by nervous
impulses and hormones.
Extensibility- the ability to be stretched from the normal resting length.
Elasticity- the ability to stretch and return to the original shape.

 Involuntary muscle
 Not under conscious control
 Provides movement of the bones and joints
 A voluntary muscle
 Found in many hollow organs
 These muscles are found in blood vessels,
digestive organs, the urinary system and in
parts of the respiratory system
 The function of cardiac muscle is to pump blood
in the circulatory system.
 The function of skeletal muscle is to contract for
voluntary movements

 The function of smooth muscle is the propulsion
of substances along internal organs.
