style and trends of era
Task 2 - Arrangement
Before creating your own arrangement, it is essential that
you listen to other arrangements.
If you can find more than one, compare them.
Research on the internet to find any digital scores that may
be available for you as a starting point.
Is there a MIDI file of the melody?
Task 3 – Melody or lyrics
Compose your own lyrics or find a set of lyrics that you are
thinking of using.
Place the main accents on your lyrics.
Is the first word of each line important or one in the
middle?
Consider how you would rap the words.
Consider the rhythmic patterns as part of the composing
process and try to notate the rhythms – you may decide on
more than one pattern before making a final decision.
Task 4 - Mood
Compose a short advert jingle to create a happy mood in no
more than four bars.
Compose a short film trailer to create a sad / scary mood in
no more than four bars.
What was easy / hard about this task?
What would you change in the future in both pieces?
Task 5 – Listening to examples

film where music is used to remind the audience of a
character or setting.
Evaluate the effect of the music.
Where and how is the music repeated?

Where is the music happy / sad / dramatic?
