Conference Period
You can make an appointment to meet
with both of us Monday-Friday before
school. Please contact us by email or
attach a written request to your child’s
Daily Folder. We will get back to you
as soon as possible.

An Overview of Kindergarten
Read simple stories with expression and comprehension.
Write simple sentences using phonetic spelling, wall
words, and other words copied or sound spelled.
Use calendar and math manipulatives to develop an
understanding of numbers and patterns in math.
Experience hands on science to develop skills of
observation to sort, classify and order things in their
world.
Learn and practice the life skills to understand others
and get along with others.
Use technology to learn, practice, share and record
concepts.

Our classroom is a community. In our community,
we have rules to help us get along with each other.
Our class rules are:

Consequences:
*Time-Out from Recess (student’s will walk the “Thinking Trail”)
while in Mrs. Meinzer’s Class.
*Time-Out from Centers while in Ms. McPhaul’s Class.
Classroom Community
Blue Daily Folders are sent home every afternoon. These
folders will allow you to track your child’s daily behavior in
the classroom. Please talk with your child about the ticket
pulled and the importance of following classroom rules.
The number of tickets pulled determines your child’s
weekly conduct grade, as well as their nine weeks
conduct grade.
Ticket pulls are also recorded in your child’s red Tuesday
Folder.
Weekly Conduct Grading Scale
Excellent = 0 ticket pulls
Satisfactory = 1-3 ticket pulls
Needs Improvement = 3-6 ticket pulls
Unsatisfactory = 7+ or more ticket pulls

Homework
Homework Folders (green) go home on Monday.
ALL Homework is expected to be completed and
returned on Friday.
On occasion, extra homework may be given to
students who are struggling in an academic area.
School Hours
School starts at 8:00 a.m.
A child that is not in class by 8:20 must go to the office for
a Tardy Slip.
A student who is tardy 4 times during a nine-week grading
period, will receive a letter about the tardy policy. Please
sign and return this letter.
After the 5th tardy, the conduct grade will be lowered one
letter grade for that particular nine-weeks.
Please call the attendance office if your child is going to be
absent. Send written notes and Dr. notes to the attendance
office upon return.
There are no Early Dismissals after 2:40.
School ends at 3:15.
Lunch
Parents may come eat lunch with their
child. All visitors must sign-in at the
front office and receive a visitor’s name
tag. Please sit at the Visitor’s table in
front of the stage.
If your child plans on buying lunch,
please make sure they have sufficient
funds in their lunch account.
Please send a nutritious lunch (minimal
junk food) with your child. This will help
them be an active learner all day.

Parade. (Permission form needed in order to participate.)
Oct. 9 - Papa John's Pizza Night.
Oct. 23 - Cookie Dough Pickup, 2-6pm.
Oct. 26 - PTO Fall Festival.
Oct. 31 - Happy Halloween!
Nov. 6 - Parent/Teacher Conference Day
Auction Basket
There will be a Silent Auction at our Fall
Festival on Oct. 26th.
Theme: “Taste of Texas!”
We are asking you to help us out by brining in
one item to add to our basket (salsa, hot
sauce, gift cards to Mexican restaurants,
tortilla maker, Tostitos Chips, Queso, etc..).
We will be taking donations thru Oct. 12th.
