Monica, California. We work with our clients to provide music and audio solutions and

media projects on behalf of our content providers.
Founded by award-winning composer and creative director, Woody Pak, Chaotic Content is
proud to consistently deliver high quality music, both in the form of licensing and original
customized work, to clients across a wide range of media platforms including feature films, TV,
commercials, video games, documentaries, websites and interactive media.

bridge to the world!
Our History
Chaotic Content was founded by Woody Pak (composer), Gloria Lee (ethnomusicologist), and
Brigette Noh (lawyer) in the Fall of 2006 with the vision to provide a supportive base of services for
music artists. The vision included helping artists to monetize upon their musical creations by
offering music content for various media spaces that include network television, feature films,
documentaries, as well as commercials.
Within just 3 years, Chaotic Content had already experienced great success in extending our artists’
content reach to many media spaces. Some notable projects and placements include Korean
Airlines and Hyundai television commercials, numerous documentaries that include Planet B-Boy
and Girls on the Wall, Nexon video games, the hit TV show Burn Notice, The Ellen DeGeneres
Show, and numerous musical contributions to the MTV network.
By reaching out to artists, composers and producers from all over the world, Chaotic Content’s
catalog grew from around 1,000 tracks in early 2007 to over 7,000 as of the summer of 2010.
Throughout this rapid growth process, their content remained diverse and spanned across a variety
of genres, with a special emphasis on the collection of world and Asian music recordings by artists
from Korea.
Today, with more placements and a larger network of relationships in the media creation industries,
Chaotic Content is poised to continue on their growth trajectory and is always looking for more high
quality and diverse content to satisfy their expanding list of clients’ needs.

What is Music Licensing? (definition)
Music licensing is the licensed use of
copyrighted music and is intended to ensure
that the creators of musical works get paid for
their work.
In the United States, music licensing is
ubiquitous. The music that is heard on the
radio is licensed. The music on TV shows or
in movies are licensed as well. Even the
music being played at a restaurant is
licensed. We live in a world of music licensing
- a world where the rights to use music are
bought and sold every day.
There are several things that can be copyrighted
in any sound recording for a song:
• The actual sounds: the
performance of the work.
• The notes that the musicians play to
create the song: notes can be
embodied in sheet music.
• The lyrics for the song: lyrics can be
written down on a sheet of paper.
Once these elements have been copyrighted, the
owner of the rights can then license the song in
any way they choose.
What is Music Licensing? (application)
In the United States and other parts of the world, when a media or production company wants
to use a song for their product or project, they must obtain the rights or license to use the
song.
Here are some examples of when a song must be licensed:
• A video production company wants to use a song as background music.
• A TV show production wants to use a song as their opening credits music.
• A film producer wants to use a song for music playing from a car within the film.
• A commercial production studio wants to use a song in the commercial.
• A video game developer wants to use a song for their theme music.
• A radio station wants to play a song as part of its regular programming.
• A website designer wants to loop a song on the home page of a site.
• A restaurant owner wants to play a song as ambient music.
• A toy maker wants to play a song when a child pushes a button on the toy.
…and many other applications.
Music Licensing – Numbers and Statistics
The licensing fee for the rights to use a particular song for a project can vary greatly. Usually there
are no strict guidelines and the fee is negotiable between the licensor and licensee. Depending on
the popularity of the song/artist, the size and scope of a project, and the application of the music
within the project (forefront or background etc), licensing fees can range from as low as free to as
high as $100,000 or more per license.
Due to America’s growing appetite for media consumption, the music licensing industry continues to
expand. Despite declining music sales in North America over the last 5 years, music licensing
revenue has actually been steadily increasing:

Music Licensing – The Future
As more countries across the world begin to enforce music licensing practices in
the same manner that the United States currently does, global licensing revenues
could increase exponentially. Technology improvements, media accessibility and a
globalizing pop culture will increase worldwide media consumption and demand,
and ultimately increase music licensing revenue for these media projects.

Business Plan Overview
In the US, the appetite and demand for
“world” and cultural crossover music has
been growing with the globalization of pop
culture, fitting perfectly with our niche and
branding strategy. This growing trend has
created an underserved need that Chaotic
Content can satisfy. While many music
licensing companies specialize in one
category or another, there are very few that
specialize in world or ethnic music, especially
of the Asian variety. Our goal is to be the
number one source for fulfilling this need.
Our plan moving forward is to further increase our focus on
the acquisition of high quality Asian content, and position our
company as the first “go-to” source for Asian traditional,
fusion and pop music among music content seekers in the
US. In doing so, we will satisfy our synergistic dual goals of
greater exposure and promotion of music content from Asia
through placements in high profile media projects, while also
creating a business model that will help monetize works for
Asian artists and content providers.
