If only one genre of music was available for
mankind to listen to what would it be?
Why?
Music and Emotion
Several characteristics have been
suggested that might influence
the emotion of music:
Major keys and rapid tempos
cause happiness
Slow tempos cause sadness
Rapid tempos together with
dissonance cause fear
Can you think of movies, soap
operas, TV shows that remind you
of this?
Background Music
Is it intended to
encourage close
attention?
Become a
“foreground” listener.
Where would you
expect to hear
background music?

having trouble
competing in what is
still a male-dominated
scene?
Do you prefer male to
female performers, or
vice versa?
