TASK C2.2 –READ AND
SUMMARISE
INFORMATION
Objectives:
 By the end of this session, students will
be able to:

 Work with text and produce a short
summary.
Aims:- Task C2.2 assessment

Read and summarise
information from at least
TWO documents about
the same subject. Each
document must be a
minimum of 500 words
long.

Method Recap
 A useful method to use when
summarising is identifying the key
points first.
 Use a highlighter pen to make the text
stand out, or underline the key
words/sentences.
 Draw up a list of key words/sentences.
MAIN POINTS
 To find the relevant information from material
you are reading it is a good idea to highlight
or underline the main points that carry the
information.
 Pick out the main points in the following
example:
EXAMPLE:
 Write Jane a note and tell her
tomorrow’s meeting is cancelled but
we’ll still need her report by 10am.
 Now pick out the key words

 The daily newspapers are engaged in a bitter
sales battle. Some newspapers reduce their
prices to try to sell more papers. Others give
special offers on travel if you collect a set of
tokens day by day. One even sometimes
gives away free plants if you send away the
tokens in the newspaper.
