Chapter 3
Let us then define Love. As the worlds were framed by Love, Love is both
sagacious and potent; for each part of the Unfed Flame is complementary
to every other part and to the whole. But, Love in Essence is the very inner
Being of God. It is, therefore, the Holy Spirit in action! Every one who
loves, then, is born of the Spirit. And it can well be said they who do
not love have not yet come unto Life.
Love is penetrative and expansive; Love is enfolding and
transmutative; Love is Patience and Understanding; Love is Wisdom and
Strength. Love is Virtue and Purity. Love is Dedication and
Constancy. Love is the combination of all of the Qualities of God, and yet
there is added thereto an ingredient not yet wholly known to Man and one
which We cannot wholly define here for many reasons, except to say that
the Fullness of Love is the very secret of Life!

In the science of Yoga, which has to be wrought out and mastered in
the physical body the term “central organ” is applied to the head or
the heart and the distinction is one of time primarily. The heart in
the earlier stages of unfoldment upon the Path is the central organ;
later it is the organ in the head where the true light has its abiding
place.
In the process of unfoldment, heart development precedes
head development. The emotional nature and the senses unfold
prior to the mind, as can be seen if we study humanity as a whole.
The heart center opens before the head center. Love must ever be
developed before power can be safely used. Therefore the light of
love must be functioning before the light of life can be consciously
employed.

Stanzas 444 and 445
444. Among the various sacred pains there is a certain type that is called
the “Vina of the Creator,” after the Indian lute. The pains of the centers in
the throat, shoulders, elbows, extremities, knees, and elsewhere speed
out like chords reverberating on a musical instrument. That is how the
heart is tuned. Without question, the heart’s bond with the Highest remains the
sole refuge of humanity. The other forms of Yoga were connected with other
cosmic conditions. Now the heart is being cast forth like an anchor in a storm,
and it is not difficult to approach the fiery Yoga of the Heart. First, the seeker
should sense the great battle and the ominous cloud of destruction that is
gathering over the Earth. Second, the seeker should look upon his heart as a
refuge. And third, the seeker should be firmly established upon the Hierarchy. It
would seem that these conditions are not so hard to meet, but so often we
humans prefer side-paths and would even rather practice deceit than turn
to the simplest means. Of course, tension of the heart is needed. With
good reason the heart was called the “Great Prisoner.”

445. Powerful volcanoes are awakening; the fire is seeking an outlet.
People are aware of this, but they do not give up a single habit. Likewise, it
is hard for them to transfer consciousness to the heart; but one needs to be
clad in the best armor for protection from all sorts of poison. Similarly,
people fail to foresee national events, but their sequence comes rushing
forward with unstoppable force. The battle is not easy; everyone has to muster
up all the courage in his heart. That is the only way people will be able to
keep up with Us.

Chapter 1 – The Maltese Cross
As the Fire action working from the upper arm indicates a wide or infinite action
at the top, narrowing into the crucible of Being at the point of the cross, so in the
lower figure, beneath the point of qualification where the descending energies
fan out into three triangles to manifest as Power, Wisdom, and Love in the world
of form, it must be recognized that the infinite Energies of God do take the shape
of Man’ s active qualifications made at the orifice of attention and action; and
thus, Power becomes congealed in the world of form, its dimension and potential
being dependent upon the thoughts and feelings of individuals. The balance of
the upper arm and the lower arms indicates that if qualification were to be made
in Purity of the entire quotient of Energy released from the Godhead, all that is
below in the microcosmic world would reflect the Perfection of the God Power
Itself at the time It enters the crucible of Man’s Being.

The side arms–left and right–fanning out as another balanced action of the
Maltese Cross, indicate a left and right action of the descending Energies from the
plane of pure Being. Together with the descending arm below the Cross, they
indicate a form phase of the qualification of the Three-Fold Flame in action. Power
alone is negative unless it be qualified with the positive action of Divine Love.
Ponder well this statement! Therefore, the left arm of the Cross denotes the
negative use or minus charge of spiritual Energy qualified by the Blue Flame of
Power, whereas the right arm denotes the positive use or plus charge of this
spiritual Energy, indicative of the positive Power of the Pink Flame of Love, just as
the descending arm in the center relates to the Wisdom aspect of the Golden
Flame of Illumination which imbues the positive and negative poles with God
Direction and Purpose. Therefore, all that which is below is intended to be a
threefold manifestation of the Sacred Fire which descends from above.

For all Energy, released from the Godhead or Daystar from on High, upon
entering the lower octaves is immediately qualified as the night side or negative
pole of Being. This is the minus-side where the plus fling of potential garners its
power and prepares to release into manifestation the qualified substance
which, when charged with right thought and faith in right action, becomes, by
Love’ s cohesion and attraction, through the “right” side of the Cross, the
impetus of God Virtue. A simple illustration of this is the use of the slingshot
which withdraws from the “y” or sling in a negative pull in order to secure the
necessary impetus of power to drive home the shot through a positive release.

practical manner on the great need for keeping and
maintaining one’s personal harmony not only in
one’s feelings but also in one’s thoughts. For
harmony is not only the Law of Love, it is the
epitome of Love, the sign of Love’s true conquering
heroes.
