This is the ambience of my workplace.
The ambient color is yellow, the
ambient light is the sunlight coming
from the window, the ambient sound is
the mixture of music coming from my
friend’s computer and the traffic noise
coming from the outside.

Wearable computing hopes to shatter
this myth of how a computer should be
used. A person's computer should be
worn, much as eyeglasses or clothing
are worn, and interact with the user

With heads-up displays, unobtrusive
input devices, personal wireless local
area networks, and a host of other
context sensing and communication
tools, the wearable computer can act
as an intelligent assistant, whether it be
through a Remembrance Agent,
augmented reality, or intellectual
collectives.

TOY SYMPHONY
Beatbugs are hand-held percussive instruments which
allow the creation, manipulation and sharing of rhythmic
motives through a simple interface. When multiple
Beatbugs are connected in a network, players can share
and develop rhythmic patterns to form larger scale
compositions.

Music Shapers are soft, squeezable instruments, which
allow players to mold, transform, and explore musical
material and compositions. Using capacitive sensing and
conductive embroidery to measure the squeezing
gesture, Music Shapers allow children access to highlevel musical parameters such as contour, timbre,
density and structure, rarely accessible through
traditional musical instruments or pedagogy except after
many years of study and mastery..

With Toy Symphony, Tod Machover and his team at the
MIT Media Lab strive to bridge the gap between
professional musicians and children, as well as between
audience and performers. This three year project,
combining children, virtuosic performers, composers and
symphony orchestras around the world, is intended to
radically alter how children are introduced to music,
serving to redefine the relationship between professional
musicians and young people.

This is a sportive energetic way of playing the
music. You use your body as an instrument to
create music. I think that it can be useful for
modern dancers to make different shows. I can
be a game for everyone and an enjoyable way of
loosing weight.

The article which I read about “Toy Symphony”,
inspired me of a suit that creates music. The suit
that you wear is connected to the computer, and
it is made of conductive cloth. Music software
senses the movement of the body which wear
the suit . Music changes according to the
movement of the body. This is such as reverse
dancing activity.

The Tangled Webs They Weave
After 15 years of research, Dr. Randy Lewis, a professor
of molecular biology at the University of Wyoming in
Laramie, Wyoming, and his team say they have
determined the sequence of genes underlying the spider
silk protein.
The lighter, tougher and more elastic fibers would be
ideal for creating airbags that more effectively "absorb
energy rather than smashing passengers back", or
bulletproof vests for police and troops that are
substantially lighter, thinner, and have more give.
Quebec-based Nexia Biotechnologies Inc., which
licenses work from Lewis, has for several years been
introducing spider genes into goats, so they can produce
silk proteins in their milk, which can then be harvested in
larger quantities.

Within a few years, the medical field might be able to use
spider silk-like material to make "ultra-fine sutures for
cosmetic or eye surgeries" as well as artificial ligaments
and tendons to replace failing ones, according to Lewis.

The silk is pound-for-pound five times stronger than steel
and three times tougher than today's high-performance
synthetic fibers used to make protective clothing. It's
these and other properties unique to dragline silk -- the
type of silk that spiders use to make the 'spokes' of their
webs -- that makes it an ideal substance from which to
make a host of lighter, stronger materials that are also
tougher and have more stretch.

My ring is the gateway to my system. It is the key I use
to determine my level of accessibility. I turn the segments
of the ring to align in specific ways to let my system know
how to behave.
With my glasses, I use the integrated screen to receive
information about a meeting topic. I can scroll through
content using my wand.
My base unit contains the central processor, memory,
short/long range wireless communications and power
unit to keep my system running. It is very slim and
lightweight. Although I have friends who prefer the
completely "soft" vest version, I use the belt-mounted
version because it fits more with my sartorial
preferences. I don’t even think about "wearing" my
computer anymore, it’s gotten to be as natural as
wearing a watch, (which, by the way, I no longer do). I
imagine that the next step will be having my computer
become a part of my body.

With the wand, I highlight my audio meeting notes. I can
tap the tip to highlight important points in the recording, I
can edit, erase, and play back all by using the pen, which
communicates with my base unit using radio
frequencies. Later on, I can review the information, share
it with my colleagues or have it converted into text for
further manipulation.

SCENARIO OF A WEARABLE COMPUTER

I have a very complex weekly schedule. Everyday I
should stay in a different house because of traffic and to
see my parents. This schedule could have been more
simple but this is my choice. I go 50 km road everyday. I
stay in four or five different houses in a week. I carry a
bag full of clothes and cosmetics. I put my shoes to the
car. I also carry a small bag for my personal goods. I
hold books, papers. Sometimes I take my father’s laptop
in addition to those. In this complexity I got some
difficulties to work. I can hardly concentrate on studying
for school.
I sometimes think of some kind of wearable computer
would be suitable for me to work.
