Example 1
What multiplication sentence does the
array model?
A. 2x5=10
B. 4x3=12
C. 8x4=32
D. 2x3=6
The first factor is the number of rows (2)
and the second factor is the number of
things in each row. (3) The product is
the number in all. (6) So, the array
shows 2x3=6.
Example 2
What multiplication sentence does the
array model?
A. 2x5=10
B. 4x3=12
C. 3x4=12
D. 2x3=6
The first factor is the number of rows,
(3) and the second factor is the number
of things in each row. (4) The product is
the number in all. (12) So, the answer is
C, B is incorrect because the factors
are in the wrong order!
Example 3
What multiplication sentence does the
array model?
A. 4x4=16
B. 4x3=12
C. 5x4=20
D. 5x5=25
The first factor is the number of rows.
(4) and the second factor is the number
of things in each row. (4) The product is
the number in all. (16) So, the answer is
4x4=16.
Now it’s…
1. What multiplication sentence
does the array model?
A.7x5=35
B.5x2=10
C. 2x6=12
D.2x4=8
2. What multiplication sentence
does the array model?
A.3x4=12
B.4x6=24
C. 2x3=6
D.3x5=15
3. What multiplication sentence
does the array model?
A.1x7=7
B.2x1=2
C. 0x7=0
D.1x6=6
4. What multiplication sentence
does the array model?
A.2x6=12
B.1x5=5
C. 3x5=15
D.6x3=18
5. What multiplication sentence
does the array model?
A.2x2=4
B.6x4=24
C. 6x5=30
D.3x5=15

Number 4
Number 5
Review Number 1
The first factor is
the number of rows
(2). The second
factor is the number
of things in each row
(6). The product is
the number of things
in all (12). So the
multiplication
sentence modeled by
this array is 2x6=12.
Review Number 2
The first factor is
the number of rows
(3). The second
factor is the number
of things in each row
(5). The product is
the number of things
in all (15). So the
multiplication
sentence modeled by
this array is 3x5=15.
Review Number 3
The first factor is
the number of rows
(1). The second factor
is the number of
things in each row (7).
The product is the
number of things in
all (7). So the
multiplication
sentence modeled by
this array is 1x7=7.
Review Number 4
The first factor is
the number of rows
(6). The second
factor is the number
of things in each row
(3). The product is
the number of things
in all (18). So the
multiplication
sentence modeled by
this array is 6x3=18.
Review Number 5
The first factor is
the number of rows
(6). The second
factor is the number
of things in each row
(5). The product is
the number of things
in all (30). So the
multiplication
sentence modeled by
this array is 6x5=30.
