What is a function?
 It’s like a machine where you input a number and it outputs
another
What is a function?
There are numbers going in and different numbers coming
out, what is happening to the numbers?

A function is an equation
 Generally with a function there is an equation with a variable.
You input a number in it’s place and a new one comes out.
 X+5 is the function and equation, x is the variable where we
plug in our input number of 2 and we receive the answer, 7.

 Let’s see if this function matches the table of numbers we
have:
(1)+5=6
(2)+5=7
(3)+5=9
