 How can you tell?
 If last digit is even, then the
number is even.
 Ends with 0, 2, 4, 6 or 8
 If not even, then odd
 Count by twos, starting with one
 1, 3, 5, 7, 9, …

 Which of these numbers is even?

 Solution:
 Look at the last digit of each
 6 is even; and 5 and 3 are odd
 So 3586 is the only even number
Example 2
 Which of these numbers is not
odd?
123,456

 Solution:
 Look at the last digit of each
 6 is even; and 1 and 5 are odd
 So 123,456 is the only number
that is not odd
