In Mesopotamia they had many problems. One of
those problems were attacks by neighboring
communities. To solve this problem, they built
strong walls around their city. They also dug
moats() outside the city walls to prevent enemies
from entering the city. In case of attack, farmers
fled the fields and took safety inside the city walls.
