Electronic Measure and Test Unit 35
P4 and P7 part 2
A comparator is a device that compares two
voltages and switches its output on or off
depending on which is higher.
If non inverting input (+)
Is greater than the
Inverting input (-)
The out put is on
A voltage divider is a circuit that
produces an output voltage (Vout)
that is a fraction of its input
Vout is the voltage across the R2
Worked out by the resistor ratio
Vout can be changed by
Adjusting the resistance
The threshold voltage
Is set by the voltage divider
The threshold is the
voltage setting at
which the comparator switches
on or off.
If Vin is greater than the
Threshold then Vout will
go on
If Vin is lower than the
Threshold then Vout will
go off
Simulate the circuit in MultiSim
Find maximum value change
Take screen shots and use illustrations
