 The verb “tener” is irregular in the

Review of Nouns
Nouns that end in –o are usually
masculine.
 Nouns that end in –a are usually
feminine.
 Nouns that end in –e can be either
masculine or feminine. Hint: memorize
or look up.


Adjective Agreement
Adjectives in Spanish change their
forms to match the nouns they
describe.
 Adjectives that end in –o are
masculine. Use with masculine nouns.
 Adjectives that end in –a are feminine.
Use with feminine nouns.


Adjectives that end in –e or consonants
don’t usually change with gender.
 Adjectives ending in –dor and
adjectives of nationality end in –a in the
feminine form.


Making Adjectives Plural
To make an adjective plural, add –s if
the adjective ends in a vowel or –es if it
ends in a consonant.
 To make an adjective that ends in –z
plural, change the “z” to a “c” and add –
es.
 Hint: You do the same thing with
nouns.


Review of Verbs in Spanish
There are three types of verbs: -ar, -er,
and –ir.
 When you look a verb up in the
dictionary, you will find it in its infinitive
form.
 Infinitive form means unconjugated or
not changed to suit a subject and ends
in
–ar,
-er,
or
–ir.

Present Tense

Look at the sentence and find the
subject within it.
Look at the verb and decide whether it
is an –ar, -er, or –ir verb.
Drop the infinitive ending.
Add the appropriate –ar, -er, or –ir
ending based upon the subject of the
sentence.

Formula: ir a + infinitive
Use this formula to say what someone is
going to do in the future.
 Conjugate the verb “ir” in its appropriate
form based on the subject of the
sentence, place the preposition “a”
behind it, and then place the infinitive of
the verb that you are wanting to use.
 Ir a + infinitive is the same thing as saying
22 going to do something.
