Objective:
• To conjugate –AR, -ER, and -IR verbs correctly in the present tense.
State Objective 1.1
• In the target language, engage in conversations, provide and obtain
information, express feelings and emotions, and exchange opinions.
Los infinitivos
• Infinitives are the most basic form of a verb.
• They are the form that ends in
the letter “-R”.
• Usually means “To (verb)”
Hablar – to talk
Comer – to eat
Vivir – to live
• There are three types:
– -AR
– -ER
– -IR
Los tiempos verbales
• 3 main verb tenses:
– Present : Paco runs everyday.
– Past:
Paco ran yesterday.
– Future: Paco will run tomorrow.
El tiempo presente
• The present tense has 3 main structures:
– I walk
– I do walk
– I am walking

• What do you notice about the Spanish translation
of these structures?
* To emphasize the ongoing nature of an action we would
use something known as the present progressive:
“Yo estoy caminando.”
