Verb Conjugation
• In Spanish, we conjugate (change) verbs
in three different ways. (Ex. I eat vs. you
eat)
• Some words end in –ar, some in –er, and
some in –ir. By the time you are an 8th
grader, you will have conjugated all
THREE types of Spanish verbs!
3 easy steps to verb conjugation
1. Take the ending off the verb.
2. Figure out your subject and
decide which form of the verb
to use
3. Add the correct ending
-ar verb endings

-as
-áis
-a
-an
Modelo
Yo ________ español. (hablar)
1. Take off the ending. Habl
2. I need to use the yo form of the verb,
first person singular. The ending is -o.
3. Add the ending to the stem of the
verb. Habl + o = hablo
=Yo hablo español.
