Note 4- verbs that can be followed by an
infinitive or an object and an infinitive…
• Sarah would like to write a letter to Annie. = Sarah is interested in
writing to Annie.
• Sarah would like her friend to write a letter to Annie. =
Sarah is not interested in writing a letter herself. She thinks her friend
should write to Annie.
The verb followed by the infinitive may have a different meaning from a
verb followed by an object and an infinitive.
I paid to travel to China.
I paid my mom to travel to China.
Using vocabulary
• In your groups, I want you to create a story using 10 vocabulary
words.
1. Create a main character.
2. Create a story (think of a problem and a solution in the story.
3. Make sure to use that your vocabulary words in the correct verb
tense.
