Noun
• A name of a person, a thing or a place
e.g The book is on the desk.
Peter saw a snake in the garden.
Verb
• An action
• Something that the subject does
e.g. Tom is clever and kind.
My sister fell from the top of a house.
Adjective
• Modify (修飾) a noun.
• Add something to the meaning of a noun.
e.g. A strong man killed a fierce tiger.
Tom is a fat boy.
Adverb
• Modify (修飾) a verb, an adjective or
another adverb.
e.g The water is very hot.
The girl sings sweetly.
A snake crept very quickly through the grass.
Pronoun
• A word used instead of (代替) a noun
e.g. Mary was afraid because she saw a snake.
John was a great man. He was a French.
Preposition
• A word put before a noun, a pronoun,
showing the relation to other words.
e.g. I put my hand on the table.
I am pointing to the picture.
Conjunction
• Join words, phrases, or sentences together
e.g. John is fat and tall.
The girl is thin but the boy is fat.
Interjection
• Express feeling
e.g. Oh! How foolish I was to lost it.
Hurrah! We shall have a holiday on Monday.
