Spell Changers
• However, we need to “spell change” in
certain situations:
1. Yo Form
2. Only AR Verbs….
3. …that end with CAR, GAR, or ZAR
4. Finally, we only spell change before an
unaccented vowel.

How do we spell change?
In the ending “CAR”, the C changes to QU
1. Remove the ~AR.
2. Change the C to QU
3. Add the appropriate “yo” ending

1. Remove the ~AR.
2. Change the G to GU
3. Add the appropriate “yo” ending

1. Remove the ~AR.
2. Change the Z to C
3. Add the appropriate “yo” ending

There is one more form that spell changes…
In the él / ella form, I changes to Y in an “Isandwich) (This is not only in AR form)
1. Conjugate the verb like normal.
2. Look for an I-sandwich
3. Change the I to a Y
