Monday- Context clues
Use inference to define the underlined word.

Tuesday- Context clues
Use synonym/antonym to define the underlined words. Tell
which you used.
1. It was an idyllic day; sunny, warm and perfect for a walk in the
park.
2. Her animosity, or hatred, of her sister had divided the family.
3. Marty is gregarious, not like his brother who is quiet and shy.
4. Bill felt remorse, or shame, for his harsh words.
5. She is a famous singing star in her country but unknown to the
rest of the world.
Wednesday- Context clues
Sometimes a sentence contains a definition or example to help identify a
word. Use definition or example to define the underlined word.
1.
Some celestial bodies, such as the planets and stars, can be
seen with the naked eye.

His constant questioning of my remarks made him a nuisance.
3.
There was a lot of tangible evidence, including fingerprints and
DNA, to prove them guilty.

Thursday-Word choice
Some verbs are vague; they don’t help you see the
action clearly. Specific verbs have more action; they tell you
exactly what is happening. Above each underlined
verb, write a verb that shows more action. The first is done as
an example.
