Moon

The Sun
• The Sun is the star at the centre of the Solar System.
• The Sun's colour is white, although from the surface of the Earth it may
appear yellow because of atmospheric scattering of blue sky.
• The sun is about 4.5 billion years old.
• The sun is about 863,700 miles wide. It is about 110 times wider than the
Earth.
• The core of the sun is thought to be 27 million degrees Fahrenheit.
• The sun's light takes a mere 8 minutes to reach earth.

It takes the moon 27 days, 7 hour, 43 minutes and 11.6 seconds to make a
complete orbit around the Earth. The moon orbits the earth is a counter clockwise
direction.
The Moon is 4.5 billion years old.
There is no atmosphere on the moon,
which means there is no air to breathe.
Water was discovered on the moon in 2007.
There is no weather or wind on the moon, so the footprints
left by the astronauts will remain visible for millions of years.
The moon is 2,000 miles wide.
The moon has no light source of its own.
It shines at night because it reflects the light from the sun.
Our moon is called Lunar.
The Eclipse
• A lunar eclipse occurs when the moon passes behind the earth so that the
earth blocks the sun's rays from striking the moon.
• A Solar eclipse always occurs two weeks before or after a lunar eclipse.
• A solar eclipse occurs when the Moon passes between the Sun and the
Earth, and the Moon fully or partially covers the Sun as viewed from some
location on Earth.
• The cycle of eclipses repeats every 18.6 years called the saros.
• Lunar eclipses can only occur during a full moon. Solar eclipses can only
occur during a new moon.
