Let’s
Commands
To suggest that the
speaker AND group of
people do (or don’t do)
an activity, we use the
“Let’s” Command.
Let’s watch the bike race on
TV!
Let’s go bowling!
In Spanish there are 2 ways to express a “Let’s”
Command:
1. Vamos a + infinitive (ar, er, ir)
Vamos a ir a la playa.
(Let’s go to the beach!)
Vamos a comer tacos para la cena .
(Let’s eat tacos for supper!)
2. The Imperative Command Forms
(regular AR, ER and IR verbs)
stem + Let’s Command Ending
ar verbs- emos
er/ir verbs- amos
Coleccionemos monedas.
Corramos por el bosque.
Some other things you should know:
1. The spelling changes apply for AR verbs
(car-gar-zar verbs)
Practiquemos el esquí acuático.
Juguemos naipes.
Empecemos ahora.
2. Attach
object pronouns to the affirmative
command and place them before the verb in a
negative command.
Preparémosles tacos y enchiladas a ellos.
Preparémoselos a ellos.
To place the accent mark:
1 pronoun- count back 3 vowels from the end.
2 pronouns- count back 4 vowels from the end.
No les preparemos ni tamales ni frijoles.
