Write a set of instructions to enable someone to operate
your time machine. think about the way we wrote the
shirt Machine instructions in class.
Next week, we will use these to create an authentic
Victorian instruction manual for your machine.
Tips:
1. Don’t forget a clear ‘How to..’ title
2.
Order your instructions in the correct sequence
3.
Start each instruction with an ‘imperative’, or ‘bossy’,
verb.
Examples:
Twist the wheel slowly until it won’t turn any more.
4.
Try to to tell the reader what ‘to do’, not what ‘not to do’
if possible, but you may have to if it’s very important.
Examples:
Don’t press the button too hard.

Press the button lightly. (Yes)
Nouns:
Wait until the machine start. Do not press the start button
lever, button, dial, handle, switch, screen, keypad,
wheel, valve, lock, key, tap, gear stick, wire
more than once. (This is okay)

Add adverbs to give precise instructions.
Example:
Turn the valve quickly and firmly.
Verbs:
twist, turn, pull, push, slam, bang, grip, squeeze, flick,
type, haul, heave, stamp, alter, watch, observe, check
