TRiO students are able to
receive their own personal
tutoring at their own available
time.
The student meets with the
same tutor each time. He/she
has the ability to establish a
bond and receive more personal
and academic attention.
The environment is focused only
on TRiO students and has a
more one-to-one ratio. There’s
less students in the TRiO room
which aids the student to
concentrate more in their
studies.
University Learning Center
(ULC)
The ULC is opened to all
students enrolled at the Texas
A&M International University.
The student can get assistance
by attending the ULC and
waiting to see if a tutor is
available or might have to set an
appointment.
The environment is more
diverse; Different tutors are
eligible for each subject,
Supplemental Instruction
Sessions are given, and the
majority of the time, other
tutors are tutoring at the same
time, limiting one’s ability to
concentrate and fully learn.

The TRiO student receive the benefits such as
academic advising. They are able to receive help
with their degree plan and registering for the new
semesters and summer sessions.
Registration is available at 12:00pm by our advisors.
The TRiO student has the option of going to the Counselor of TRiO,
Gustavo Salazar, if they feel the need to talk about any situation that
they are currently going through.
Each session is completely confidential and private.
When Gus’s door is closed each student is aware that a counceling
session is in progress.
Each TRiO SSS Program member is automatically accepted into the STAR Club.
This club is involved throughout the academic year in a wide variety of
community service activities.
This club is also in charge of establishing fundraisers during the school year to
raise money for scholarships. The scholarships then awards several of the club
