Placement of Pronouns
Affirmative Commands
In affirmative commands, attach object pronouns to
the end of the verb.
1. Juan, call her!
1. Juan, ¡llámala!
2. Paco and Juan, count them! (papers)
2. Paco and Juan, ¡cuéntenlos!
3. You (formal) invite me to it! (the party)
3. ¡Invítemela!

Negative Commands
In negative commands, object pronouns go before the
verb.
1. Juan, don’t call her!
1. Juan, ¡no la llames!
2. Paco and Juan, don’t count them! (papers)
2. Paco y Juan, ¡no los cuenten!
3. You (formal) don’t invite me to it! (the party)
3. ¡No me la invite!

Affirmative Reflexive
Commands
In affirmative commands using reflexive verbs, the reflexive pronoun
comes before the object pronoun, and attaches to the verb.
1. Juan, put them on! (boots)
1. Juan, ¡póntelas!
2. Paco and Juan, wash them! (hands)
2. Paco yJuan, ¡lávenselos!
3. You (informal) cut it! (your hair)
3. ¡Córtatelo!

Negative Reflexive
Commands
In negative commands using reflexive verbs, the reflexive pronoun
comes before the object pronoun, and comes before the verb.
1. Juan, don’t put them on! (boots)
1. Juan, ¡No te las pongas!
2. Paco and Juan, don’t wash them! (hands)
2. Paco and Juan, ¡no se los laven!
3. You (informal) don’t cut it! (your hair)
3. ¡No te lo cortes!
Nosotros Reflexive
Commands
With the affirmative nosotros command, drop the –s of the
ending before adding the reflexive pronoun nos.
1. Let’s get organized!
1. ¡Organicémonos!
2. Let’s get up!
2. ¡Levantémonos!
3. Let’s brush our teeth!
3. ¡Cepillémonos los dientes!
Nosotros Reflexive
Commands
With the negative nosotros command, just add the reflexive
pronoun nos before the verb.
1. Let’s not get organized!
1. ¡No nos organicemos!
2. Let’s not get up!
2. ¡No nos levantemos!
3. Let’s not brush our teeth!
3. ¡No nos cepillemos los dientes!
