PRESENT SIMPLE – It’s really simple!

FORM (-s in third person singular):
declarative (.)
I sleep 8 hours a day. He looks like an angel.
 interrogative (?)
Do you need anything? Does he know about it?
 negative sentence: I do not think so. She doesn’t want to go with us.

I like fizzy drinks.
(Mám ráda pití s bublinkama.)
Do you know him?
(Znáš ho?)
I don’t believe them.
(Nevěřím jim.)
Does she have any siblings?
(Má nějaké sourozence?)
USE AND TYPICAL EXPRESSIONS

USE:
when something is generally true
It snows in winter. The sun rises in the east.
when we describe habits or things we do regularly
He goes to school every day at 7 a.m. and comes back at 3 p.m.
for situation that is more or less permanent
She likes coffee. Where do you live?


USE:
to describe actions that are happening at the moment
The water is boiling, you can put the spaghetti in.
to refer to temporary things
Julia is living in Paris for a few months.
to describe definite future plans
Granny is coming next Saturday.

