G: Hey, that’s a nice jacket. Where did you get it from?
L: From the second-hand shop. It only cost a fiver. Not bad.
G: Mm, I’d never buy second-hand clothes personally. Never
know who’s been in them. L: Oh come on. You’re always
complaining you’re short of money. It’s about time you
started going there. They’ve got some really nice things. If I
were you, I’d stop buying all those expensive clothes. You
wouldn’t have to work so hard in the evenings in that awful
burger place if you did that.
G: I’d rather you didn’t mention that. I’ve got to go there
soon.
L: I think you ought to give up that job, you know. I certainly
