• It was commissioned by Napoleon
Bonaparte.
• Built as tribute to French army victories.
• Designed by Jean Chalgrin in 1860.
• Built in 1836.

• There are 284 steps to the top.

• At the western end of the Champs
Elysees.
• It is situated in place Charles de Gaulle.
• It is the worlds famous Triomphe arch.
• It is over 51 metres high.

12 roads radiate from it in a star shape.
• There are 284 steps to the top.
• The top of the arch gives one of the best
views over Paris.

Unknown soldier is buried below the arc.
The tombs eternal flame burns there and is
lit each evening.
