Adjectives describe nouns only.
Adjectives are usually placed before the
noun but can be placed after the noun.
Examples:
Marcos put on his heavy backpack.
His backpack is heavy.
Adverbs


Adverbs usually go after the verb and
before other adjectives.
Adverbs are usually an adjective + ly
Examples:
It rained heavily yesterday.
He is dangerously close to the edge.
Special Cases
1) Some words are
both adjectives and
adverbs
 Hard
 Fast
 Late
 Early
2) These two common
words don’t look
alike and many
people confuse
them.
 Good (adjective)
 Well (adverb)
