

user

Configuring the installed operating system to meet user

Scheduling tasks to meet user needs
You will be given a range of software and choices will
need to be made about which is appropriate and how
it should be configured.
Setting ROM BIOS Parameters


Controls the start-up of the system,
You could configure:




The date and time settings
Recognition of boot devices
Boot sequence
Access rights
Install and Configure An OS

You will need to choose, install and configure an OS.
 Things to configure:
Language and regional settings
Time zone, date and time
Folder structure and options
Desktop appearance
Display options
Mouse and keyboard settings
Printer e.g. set default printer, install
printer drivers, change printer settings
 Usernames, passwords and privileges,
 Multimedia options.








Configure Security Utilities

You will need to choose, install and configure security
utilities to ensure the system is safe from harm
 Things to configure:




Which components to install
Automatic updates
Automatic scans
What to do with threats


You will need to choose, install and application
software required
 Things to configure:
 Default file locations
 Toolbar and menu layouts
 Other software options e.g. save
options

Tasks can be scheduled to automatically run at given
times,
You should have scheduled your virus checker to run
and update but for MB3 need to make use of “Task
Scheduler” utilities

Go to Control Panel > Schedule Task > Add New Task
Click browse to find the executable file you want to schedule
Add the frequency and the time when the task should run
Change the run properties so required switches are included
