Meet the Team
• Miss Hockley – class teacher . In everyday except
Monday’s or
Wednesdays for planning and
assessment time.
• Mrs Bowler – classroom assistant.
• Mrs Dickson – class teacher cover on
Mondays/Wednesdays
EYFS Curriculum
• Topic map will be provided each term with a summary of
what we will be learning about.
• Current topic is ‘Ourselves’, next topic is ‘Celebrations’.
• Small inputs (around 15/20 minutes) and then ‘choosing’.
Adult led activities will happen at the same time as
choosing.
• Children will get free flow between inside and outside
when there is adult supervision in place.
EYFS Curriculum
• In EYFS we follow ‘Development Matters’ curriculum.
• 7 areas of learning, 3 prime and 4 specific. 17 early
learning goals.
• Each surround the ‘Unique Child’ and integrate with
each other.
• Each week children will have set phonics, literacy,
maths, RE, PE and computing times.
• All will be based around the current topic.
• Children are observed playing and this is recorded and
put in their learning journals.
Reading
• Children will be provided with a reading folder, reading
record and phonics cards.
• Each week they will take home a new library book (on
Fridays) and a new reading book (any day of the week).
• Your child will be heard read at school at least once a
week.
• Please ensure that reading folders come to school
everyday, and are placed in the green box which will be
on the table near the pegs.
• Please bring back library books on a Friday.
Growth Mindset
• St Peters is a ‘Growth Mindset School’.
• Focusses on ‘I can overcome’, ‘I learn from my mistakes’
‘I can do better than my best’.
• In Reception we use ‘Learning Superheroes’.
• Children will receive stickers for being like one of the
superheroes.
• These will be recorded in their ‘Learning Journals’.

Weekends
Reminders
• Gate is unlocked at 8:30, children should not be
unsupervised. Doors open at 8:40 and close at 8:50. Children
are considered late from 9.
• E-Safety – meetings coming soon.
• Any medication should be up to date (eg. Inhalers). Cannot be
administered by teaching staff, parents must come into
school for this.
• Please bring money in an envelope.
• A reminder to ensure all school uniform is neat and tidy. Long
hair should be tied back.
• Annual consent forms/home school agreements/photo forms
– please!
• PE kits
Snack/lunch times
• Snacks should be ‘snacks’ and should be
fruit or vegetables.
• Please ensure you are ordering hot dinners –
please let me know if you are having any
problems with this.
• Healthy lunches – no nuts/seeds.
Behaviour

Reception behaviour policy:
Children will receive three warnings after bad behaviour/breaking class rules.
After this they will be on the sad cloud.
After this they will have 5 minutes time out.
School behaviour policy:
4 school rules
If any are broken, children will receive a behaviour mark.
If children receive a behaviour mark they will be in ‘Reflection’.
A record of behaviour marks is kept in the reading records.
Positive behaviour: Children will be put on the ‘super rainbow’. They will receive a
‘Miss Hockley’ sticker. Please ask the children why they received this.

in school.
