Things That Make Me Smile
It makes me smile when I hear my favorite song
When my sister and I get along
When I see my relatives after a long time apart
When I know unexpected things because it makes me feel smart
When I see my best friends at school
When I do an epic cannonball into the pool
When I drink a smoothie
When, for the twentieth time, I watch my favorite movie
When my friend tells a funny joke
When I laugh so hard at the joke and almost choke
When it’s finally the weekend and I can relax for a while
These are the things that make me smile.
If-You-Were and If-I-Were Poems
• Think of a person you like and compare
them to some thing. (metaphor, Suzie is a
flower)
• Now compare yourself to something
associated with the first object. (I am the
soil)
• Poem must be three stanza’s long. Each
stanza must have four lines.
If You Were A Flower
If you were a flower,
I would be the wind,
I would leave you there,
And stay with you till the end.
If I was the moon,
While you were the sun,
I’d let you shine bright, as bright as you could,
Until it is night.
If you were an ice cream
And I was the freezer,
I would never let you melt,
Because without you I would be nothing either.
If-You -Were
If you were a shining star
And I were your midnight,
I’d let you shine above me,
You’d be my only light.
If you were a scoop of ice cream
And I were an ice cream cone,
I’d put you on my shoulders
An hold you for my own.

I am?
I am scaly and green
I wonder what it’s like on land
I hear bubbles from mouth’s of fish
I see huge boats
I want a friend to love and care for
I am scaly and green
I pretend to talk to friends
I feel the furry feeling of the moss
I touch the warm swampy sand
I worry about the scary men with cages
I cry when I see others get taken away
I am scaly and green
I understand we don’t all live
I say let us all be free!
I dream of seeing my family again
I try to restrain from hurting others
I hope for a comfortable habitat
I am scaly and green
