LT. DYLAN PROMOTED BY SFPD
Former Rock Star Moves
Up
Mike Dylan, a man who's been
with the San Francisco Police
Department for more than a half
a decade was recently promoted
to lieutenant.
The promotion from sergeant
makes Dylan, 34, the first rock
star homicide detective in the
city, according to San Francisco
Police Commission President
Jeff Wolf.
Dylan, who's been a police
officer for 10 years - 4 of them in
San Francisco - said he's honored
and excited about the promotion
Captain Leland Stottlemeyer and Lieutenant Mike Dylan not just for himself, but also for
all rock stars.
"This is a really significant step,
and a really validating experience
personally for me, but also for all
other rock stars," he said.
Wolf said he thinks Dylan’s
promotion from sergeant is well
deserved.
"What's really gratifying is Mike
Dylan was promoted in spite of
being a rock star, not because he's
a rock star ... he was promoted on
merit as opposed to anything
else."
Wolf said Dylan is "a gentleman"
and "really an excellent role
model for our community." He
said there are also two rock star
patrol officers on the force.
