CTE Initiatives
Annual Perkins Grant used to strengthen and develop programs
The purpose of Perkins is to provide individuals with the academic and technical
skills needed to succeed in a knowledge- and skills-based economy. Perkins
supports career and technical education that prepares its students both for
postsecondary education and the careers of their choice.
New Hires
Margaret Thornton– CTE Coordinator, (Grade 9-12 connections/MC/CCP)
Lindy Dobbins – ADV & GRD Instructor, (Digital Media enhancements)
Melanie Reddrick – ARC Program Chair/Instructor, (Refocus program)
Kent Priddy – AHR Instructor, (enhance development of credentials prep)

Additional separate CTE “small perkins” grant funded by NCCCS office

Funding proposal to NSF for development of Anti-counterfeiting Technology
curriculum within GRA flexography program
Welding (WLD)
American Welding Society (AWS)certification testing to be provided under
contract to Bechtel candidates for pre-employment testing. 150-200 candidates
to be tested at Harper within one year for projects in Virginia and Louisiana.
