The “Prophet” Muhammad
• After proclaiming himself to be the last of the
prophets, & his message (Qur’an), the last
revealed book, Muhammad & his followers
were persecuted & driven from Mecca.
• He eventually moved to Medina where he was
given supreme authority.
• Led his followers in spreading their religion with
the sword, raiding caravans & waging war until
Mecca surrendered to him in 630.
The Islamic Faith
• Following the example of Islam’s founder & the
instruction of the Qur’an, Muslims soon spread
their religion by both persuasion & force W into
Europe & S into Africa, until stopped at the
Battle of Tours in France in 732.
• Islam spread eastward into southern Asia & on
to islands of the southwest Pacific Ocean.
• Some Muslims still follow the original ideas
exemplified by their founder & the Qur’an in
utilizing the weapons of war.
The Islamic Faith
• Those who exalt Muhammad as their
spiritual leader and “the last prophet,” exalt
one who advanced his religious agenda by
violence and bloodshed.
• His religion, Islam, was founded upon the
practice of intimidation, coercion, & terror.
• Dissenters were not just “avoided,” they
were massacred.
Islam: The Role of Ishmael
• Muslims consider the Kabba – a small
sanctuary near the center of the Great
Mosque in Mecca— to be the most sacred
spot on earth.
• Muslim legend teaches that the ancient
religious patriarchs Abraham and Ishmael
built the shrine using foundations first laid by
Adam.

– “Raised the Foundations” of God’s House
– “Purified” God’s House of Devotion & Prayer
– Was one of the Patriarchs
– Exalted with “Elisha, Jonah and Lot”

• Received the divine promise that he would
beget 12 princes & become a great nation.

Terrorism is authorized by the Qur’an
Surah 8:12-14, And the Lord said to the angels: “I am
with you; go and strengthen the faithful. I shall
fill the hearts of infidels with terror. So smite
them on their necks and every joint, (and
incapacitate them), For they had opposed God
and His Apostle; but whosoever opposes God and
His Apostle (should know) that God is severe in
retribution. For you is this (punishment) to taste,
for the infidels the torment of Hell.”

• “Surely the true religion with Allah is Islam,”
and “whoso seeks a religion other than Islam,
it shall not be accepted of him, & in the
Hereafter he shall be among the losers”
(Sura 3:20, 86).
• Followers are ordered to “fight [transgressors]
until there is no persecution, and religion is
professed only for Allah” (Sura 2:194).

• “And fight in the way of Allah against those
who fight against you, but do not transgress.
Surely, Allah loves not the transgressors. And
slay these transgressors wherever you meet
them & drive them out from where they have
driven you out; for persecution is worst than
slaying. And fight them not in & near the
Sacred Mosque until they fight you therein.
But if they fight you, then fight them. Such is
the requital for the disbelievers” (2:191-193).

• “Let those then fight in the cause of Allah
who would sell the present life for the
Hereafter. And whoso fights in the cause of
Allah, be he slain or be he victorious, We
shall soon give him a great reward” (4:75).
• “Verily, Allah loves those who fight in His
cause arrayed in solid ranks, as though they
were a strong structure cemented with
molten lead” (61:5).

• “Fight, therefore, in the way of Allah – thou art
not made responsible except for thyself – and
urge on the believers to fight. It may be that
Allah will restrain the might of those that
disbelieve; and Allah is stronger in might &
stronger in inflicting punishment” (4:85).
• “O ye who believe! Fight such of the
disbelievers as are near to you & let them find
hardness in you; & know that Allah is with the
righteous” (9:123).

• “Make war on those (unbelievers) until
idolatry is no more & Allah’s religion reigns
supreme. If they desist Allah is cognizant of
all their action; but if they give no heed,
know that Allah will protect you” (8:40-41).
• “Make war on them: Allah will chastise them
through you & humble them. He will grant
you victory over them & heal the spirit of
the faithful” (9:14).

• “When ye meet the unbelievers (in fight),
smite at their necks; at length, when ye have
thoroughly subdued them, bind a bond firmly
(on them): thereafter (is the time for) either
generosity or ransom: Until the war lays down
its burdens. Thus (are ye commanded): but if it
had been God's will, He could certainly have
exacted retribution from them (Himself); but
(He lets you fight) in order to test you” (47:4).
Motivation to Fight
• “If you will not go forth to fight in the
cause of Allah, He will punish you with
a painful punishment, and will chose in
your stead a people other than you,
and you shall do Him no harm at all.
And Allah has full power over all
things” (9:39).
Motivation to Fight
• “And if you are slain in the cause of Allah or
you die, surely, forgiveness from Allah and
mercy are better than what they hoard. And if
you die or be slain, surely unto Allah shall you
be gathered together” (3:158-159).
• “Think not of those, who have been slain in the
cause of Allah, as dead. Nay, they are living, in
the presence of their Lord, and are granted
gifts from Him” (3:170).
Motivation to Fight
• “Jubilant because that which Allah has
given them of His bounty; and rejoicing for
the sake of those who have not yet joined
them from behind them, because on them
shall come no fear nor shall they grieve.
They rejoice at the favor of Allah and His
bounty, and at the fact that Allah suffers
not the reward of the believers to be lost”
(3:171-172).
• “So their Lord answered their prayers, saying,
‘I will suffer not the work of any worker from
among you, whether male or female, to be
lost. You are from one another. Those,
therefore, who have emigrated, & have been
driven out of their homes, and have been
persecuted for My cause, and have fought and
been slain, I will surely remit from them their
evil deeds and will cause them to enter
gardens through which streams flow – a
reward from Allah, and with Allah is the best
of rewards” (3:196).
Motivation to Fight
• “Let those who would exchange the life of
this world for the hereafter, fight for the
name of Allah; whether they die or conquer,
We shall richly reward them” (4:73).
• “Allah has given them that fight with their
goods and their persons a higher rank than
those who stay at home. He has promised all
a good reward, but far richer is the
recompense of those who fight for Him”
(4:95).

Three Choices for Non-Muslims
(Fundamentalist Perspective)
• Convert to Islam
• Pay the protection tax and agree not to
oppose Islam
• Die
– The Muslim disposition toward those who
disagree with them is Islamic Jihad!
Choice Available to All:
• “For God so loved the world…” (John 3:16).
• Convert to Jesus Christ by obeying His
gospel of salvation (Mark 16:16).
• Be faithful till death and receive the
reward of eternal life (Revelation 2:10).
• Choose not to obey Him, and be punished
with everlasting fire (2 Thess. 1:8-9).
