Properties of Quadrilaterals

In 5th grade you learned that a triangle has 3 sides and the sum of
its angles totals 180˚
A quadrilateral is two triangles put together to make 4 sides.
Quad means 4 and lateral means side (some Latin for you!)
What is the sum for the angles of a quadrilateral?

Lines that meet to form right angles
Perpendicular Bisector
A line which cuts a line segment into
two equal parts at 90°.
Right Angle
An angle whose measure is 90°
Plane Figure
A two dimensional figure
Doodle Bob is 2-D
(Sponge Bob is 3-D)
Polygon
A closed, two dimensional figure
formed by three or more straight sides
Bet you can’t make a polygon with two lines! Try and try, it will never happen
because a shape cannot be closed with just two lines! Circles are not polygons.
