Introduction
We have studied the properties of triangles &
construction of triangles when the three sides are
given. from the properties of triangle they can be
classified as,
 Right angled triangle
 Equilateral triangle
 Isosceles triangle
The sum of the internal angles of a triangle is 180
degrees. For forming a triangle, the sum of the two
smaller sides has to be more than the longer side.
In this project, we are
studying the properties of an isosceles triangle.
Aim
The aim of this project is to study the
properties & construction of an isosceles
triangle.
Methodology
 The method of constructing
an isosceles triangle
is taken from the
text book &with the
help of
teachers
Properties of an isosceles triangle


When two sides of a triangle are equal, it is
called an isosceles triangle.
When two sides of a triangle are equal invariably,
the two adjacent angles have to be equal.
Points to be remembered



For constructing the isosceles
triangle, the length of the equal side
& the other length has to be known.
Otherwise, the length of the non
equal side & an angle has to be
known.
We can represent Isosceles Triangle
ABC as
ABC
How to draw an isosceles
triangle
 When the sides are given.
 For example,
Construct a triangle with
base of 8 cm & equal sides of 5 cm
As the sum of the small sides comes to
10 cm, which is greater than 8 cm; it
is possible to draw a triangle
Step 1
• Draw a base line of
length 8 cm &
name left end as A
and right end as B
Step 2
• Take 5 cm length in
a compass and
draw an arc
placing the pointer
at A.
Step 3
• Now, place the pointer on B and draw
an arc to cross the previous arc. This
intersection point is named as C.
C
Step 4
• Now, join the intersection of the arcs
C with A & also with B.The triangle
will be formed as below.

Conclusion

By analyzing this project & activities we
have done, we can conclude that
construction of an isosceles triangle is
not complicated. And it is very
interesting
Thanks
 We thank our respected I.T teacher
who gave instructions & encouraged us to
do this project. We thank each & every
one who helped to do this activity
