government.
2. Economy - An organized way in which people
produce, sell, and buy goods and services.
3. Reform - A change that tries to bring about an
improvement.
4. Tribute - A payment made by one group or
nation to another to show obedience or to obtain
peace or protection.
• 5. Monasteries - Religious communities where
monks live and work.
• 6. Neo-Confucianism – Taught that life in this
world was just as important as the afterlife.
• 7. Merit System - Bureaucracy based on what a
person can do and not on their riches or personal
contacts.
• 8. Porcelain – A type of ceramic ware that is
made of fine clay and baked at high
temperatures.

book which contained Buddhist teachings.
