AROUND
THE WORLD
By: Clarivel Segura
GORGONA ISLAND
IN AMERICA
Gorgona is a Colombian island in the Pacific Ocean. The
island was established as Gorgona Natural National Park in
1984, in order to preserve its endemic species, the richly varied
wildlife of the tropical forest and the coral reefs offshore.
The island has an average temperature of 27 degrees Celsius.
With an average 98% humidity, intense rainfalls and misty days
are frequent
MILOS ISLAND IN

Pink Lake is a salt lake in the Goldfields-Esperance region
of Western Australia.
The lake is not always pink but the distinctive colour of the

Important Bird Area because it usually supports significant
numbers of hooded plovers and sometimes over 1% of the

SAHARA
DESERT IN
AFRICA
The Sahara is the largest hot desert and third
largest desert after Antarctica and the Arctic.
The sky is usually clear above the desert and
the sunshine duration is extremely high
everywhere in the Sahara.
The flora of the Sahara is highly diversified
based on the bio-geographical characteristics
of this vast desert. Floristically, the Sahara has
three zones based on the amount of rainfall
received the Northern (Mediterranean),
Central and Southern Zones. There are two
transitional zones the Mediterranean-Sahara
transition and the Sahel transition zone.
THE
ENCHANTED
FOREST
YAKUSHIMA
It's an eco-paradise of stunning landscapes,
crystal clear waters, and diverse wildlife.
The 195-square-mile island rises swiftly from
sea level to a mountainous interior of milehigh peaks that can be snow covered in winter,
despite the subtropical climate.
The granite bedrock is covered by cedar
forests, some primary, others the result of
reforestation after Edo-period logging. In
summer its beaches serve as the largest
nesting grounds in the region for loggerhead
turtles. The surrounding waters are filled with
flying fish, which figure prominently in local
menus
