Starts as run-off from mountains which
forms small streams and creeks (tributaries)
Small streams and creeks flow into a larger
river and then to a drainage basin, known as
a watershed
Watersheds
Land area that
supplies water to a
river system
Watersheds are
usually separated by
an area of higher
elevation
– Rocky Mtns. are known
as the great divide.
